| Councilor Gerky showcases his 2nd Solo Art Exhibit | |

 In celebration of the Hermosa Festival 2009, City Councilor Gerky Valesco opened his 2nd Solo Art Exhibit titled "Algunas Veces" last October 5, 2009 at the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Gallery of the Peninsula and the Archipelago."'Algunas Veces' means sometimes in Spanish and Chavacano, the artist having an occasional time to showcase paintings after he won a seat in the City Council in 2007 which has made him one of the busiest councilors in the city. Last year, he was named as the neophyte councilor who filed the most number of ordinances and resolutions among which are for the promotion of local arts and artists." (ADZU Website) The exhibit launching was attended by the City Mayor Celso Lobregat, COngresswoman Beng Climaco - Salazar. Both leaders conveyed their congratulatory messages to the artist.
Rameer Tawasil, also a well-known Zamboangueño artist and arts advocate introduced the Councilor's achievements in arts. He fondly related that when they were younger, they used to compete in local painting contests. More photos at the GALLERY. |
