| JCIZ holds Mural Contest | |

The Junior Chamber International-Zamboanga (JCIZ) celebrated the National JCI Week last April 12-17, 2009 simultaneously with other JCI chapters all over the Philippines. In lined with their commemoration, the JCIZ organized the Jaycees Mural Contest 2009 on April 14-17 at Western Mindanao State University, with the theme: ““Earth… Environment… Everyone… We Must Be One.”
Five individual contestants who are college students from WMSU joined the contest. They creatively painted the plain walls fronting the Roseller T. Lim monument, inspiring the people to save Mother Earth through art as their medium of advocacy. The murals were judged with the following criteria: Adherence to the theme (30%), Appeal (5%), Originality and Creativity (30%) and Artistic Design (30%). |

Jean Christine Cadano from the College of Nursing bested other amateur mural artists in this competition. Errold Intong (College of Architecture) and Teofilo De Castro Jr. (College of Nursing) placed 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. Jordan Espinosa (College of Architecture) and Sherwin Manalo (College of Engineering and Technology) also joined the contest. Medals, certificates, and cash prizes were given to the winners; P1,500 for the 1st placer, P1,000 for the 2nd placer and P500 for the 3rd placer.
